There is a method of training that is often overlooked.

Training in businesses is often treated like an event. People attend, they listen, and then they go back to doing exactly what they were doing before. However, there are other methods for effective training.  For more information on this contact Cardinal Advisors.

In my experience, the biggest gains don’t come from sitting in a course. They come when people are required to teach. When someone has to explain something clearly to others, it forces them to think properly, simplify the message and actually understand it. Any education gaps soon become visible.

Early on, I learnt this the hard way. Every time I had to instruct or lead, my own standard lifted. Not because I attended more training, but because I had to prepare and deliver.

If your team isn’t teaching each other as a method of upskilling and training, there’s capability being left on the table.

External training has its place, but it shouldn’t be the only approach. The real lift comes from building internal standards and making learning part of how the team operates day to day.
